Goulburn Valley Health has serviced residents of Victoria’s Goulburn Valley and southern New South Wales for many years. Since 2004 the health service has been designated as one of Victoria’s five regional referral hospitals, which has seen a need for it to expand its facilities and introduce new services.
Apart from being a university teaching hospital - with around 500 medical, dental and physiotherapy students studying in Shepparton every year - it is also the major provider of hospital and healthcare in the region and provides a wide range of acute care, mental health, rehabilitation, aged care and community care services to meet the needs of a growing and ageing population of nearly 160,000 people.
Visy Cares contributed to the establishment of a new, integrated health care centre, which forms the new entry to the hospital.
Contributions to funding for this project came from the Australian Government, the Victorian Government and Visy Cares.
